Entitled.

I knew a chick that had a kid, received government assistance (which means money out of your paycheck), then sent her kid to daycare all day while she took singing, acting and dance classes.  She would then complain about everything that is “unfair” about living in America.  Please note that taking singing lessons was not a job that she was paid to do.  It was a hobby that our tax dollars paid for.  Had she sent her child to daycare to do some silly activity called working and contributing to society you would not be reading this paragraph right now.  To partake in a hobby on the taxpayer’s dime would be fine if it was a Christmas or Birthday gift directly from aforementioned taxpayer.  It’s like that one friend you have that says she is broke and can’t afford rent, so you loan her a couple hundred bucks and the next day she shows up in a new dress.  You know how pissed off that makes you?  Same principal.

This is why many Conservatives have a problem with welfare programs.  It’s not a lack of concern for “poor” people.  It is because often times the easy road breeds laziness and a lack of motivation.  Had this young lady not received “benefits” you could almost guarantee she would have found a job.

Yes, there are certain circumstances in which it would be impossible for someone to work, but in most cases there is a back-against-the-wall solution, if forced to find one.  It’s not that we don’t care about people.  It’s that we have faith in them.  I’m sure I will continue to hear that Republicans hate the poor at least 57 times per day, but hopefully this will clear it up for the two friends of mine that actually read this :)
